Farmer Mr. Yoshitaka Noba
Noba-san is a third-generation tea farmer based in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, where tea has been cultivated for over 200 years.
At Kokaen, the family-run farm, Noba-san oversees every stage of production, from cultivation to matcha production. Guided by a commitment to hand-picked tea leaves and traditional cultivation methods, Noba-san strives to create tea that is both enjoyable for customers and satisfying to himself as a producer.
Award-Winning Matcha — Asahi
This award-winning matcha is made exclusively from Asahi, often referred to as the “king of matcha cultivars.”
Known for its rich umami, elegant sweetness, and long, lingering finish, Asahi is highly valued for premium matcha production.
Left unblended, this single-origin release expresses the character of the cultivar itself.
Why We Chose This Matcha
We selected this matcha for its exceptional quality and distinct character.
Made from the Asahi cultivar, it is defined by rich umami, refined sweetness, and a clean finish. These qualities are the result of both the cultivar itself and the careful work of tea farmer Noba-san.
The combination of a single producer, a single cultivar, and a traditional approach to tea making makes this a matcha we are pleased to share as part of our collection.
