Description

A glass chashaku created by artist Momoko Ikarashi.
The overarching theme of her work is landscape. Through color and texture, she captures elements that cannot be physically preserved—such as light, temperature, and atmosphere—within glass.

While shaped as a familiar tea utensil, each piece has its own unique color and expression, offering subtle changes to be appreciated through daily use.

*About Surface Marks
On clear glass chashaku, faint marks may appear where the glass comes into contact with the mold during low-temperature firing used for bending. These are not scratches, but marks that occur unavoidably as part of the production process. Please understand this as a characteristic of the piece.

Focus on Color and Texture

Glass allows for a wide range of color expression. Each color is developed through repeated experimentation until it matches the artist’s intended image.

Surface finishes—ranging from clear to matte—are also carefully adjusted, with processing methods chosen to suit each color and pattern.

As a tool meant to be handled, special attention is paid to the tactile quality of the surface.

Designed for Everyday Use

Glass chashaku tend to feel heavy, so the form is designed to minimize the sense of weight when in use.

At the same time, making the piece too thin would increase the risk of breakage, so a certain thickness is maintained to ensure durability for casual, everyday use.

While bamboo is the standard material for chashaku, glass is easy to wash and practical for regular use.
